Mackay Special Children's Christmas Party

ABC Heavy Engineering has been part of the Mackay community for a long time, and being a local business means more than having a workshop here. It means getting behind the things that matter to the people who live and work around us.

The Christmas party

One of those is the Mackay Special Children's Christmas Party, an event that gives local children with special needs and their families a day to look forward to at Christmas. It takes a lot of hands and a lot of goodwill to put on, and we are glad to be among the businesses that help make it happen each year.

It is a long way from gear cases and draglines, and that is exactly the point. A heavy engineering shop is its people, and our people care about where they live.

More than one day a year

The Christmas party is not the only thing the team gets behind. Over the year our crews and the business have supported cancer-research fundraising and taken part in National Safe Work Month, which sits naturally alongside the way we run the workshop, safety and quality come first, every day.

These are not big-noting exercises. They are the ordinary things a long-standing local employer does because it is the right thing to do.

A local business, properly local

Plenty of companies say they support their community. As a family-owned business that has operated out of Paget for around 20 years, we have grown up alongside Mackay, and the people who work here are part of the town, not just employed by a company in it.
