Every component is cleaned, stripped, assessed, measured and recorded before it is repaired, and detailed QA packages come with all completed work.
CLEAN, STRIP, ASSESS, MEASURE, RECORD
Nothing is repaired before it is measured. Every component that comes into the workshop is cleaned, stripped, assessed, measured and recorded, and only then is a decision made about repair, replacement or refurbishment.
Overhauls are carried out to OEM specification. Where our engineering department can improve on the original, the change is modelled in SolidWorks, checked with finite element analysis and drafted to AS1100 before anything is cut, which is how the stress concentrations that caused the first failure get designed out of the second one.
Detailed QA packages are provided with all completed work. Critical dimensions are measured and recorded, welding is supervised by accredited Welding Supervisors, and coatings carry QA documentation to the specification the job calls for.

- Quality management. ABC is published as a certified company against the standard, covering the manufacture, repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- AS1100
- The Australian technical drawing standard. Conceptual and workshop drawings for new and reverse engineered products are drafted to AS1100.
- Worldwide Slew Bearing Alliance
- An exclusive and enduring alliance with BMTWBM covering the design of new bearings, the refurbishment of existing OEM slew bearings and, where appropriate, their re engineering.
- Queensland labour hire licence
- Licensed to supply labour hire in Queensland, covering supervisors, planners, relief personnel and trades.
- Welding supervision and trades
- Accredited Welding Supervisors leading a team of certified Welders and Boilermakers.
- Overhaul to OEM specification
- Gear case and main machinery overhaul carried out to the original equipment manufacturer specification.
- Industrial painting
- Trade accredited painters working to industrial and marine specifications, with QA documentation as required.

Is ABC Heavy Engineering certified to ISO 9001?
Yes. ABC is published as a certified company against ISO 9001, covering the manufacture, repair and maintenance of heavy equipment. A copy of the current certificate can be supplied with a quote on request.
What quality documentation comes with a completed job?
Detailed QA packages are provided with all completed work. Critical dimensions are measured and recorded through the job, and industrial painting carries QA documentation to whatever the coating specification requires.
How is a component assessed before it is repaired?
Every component is cleaned, stripped, assessed, measured and recorded before any decision is made about repair, replacement or refurbishment. Slew bearings are condition assessed for their potential to be fully rebuilt and warranted, for as little as 30 per cent of replacement cost.
What standard do your drawings comply with?
Conceptual and workshop drawings are drafted to AS1100, the Australian technical drawing standard. Designs are modelled in SolidWorks and checked with finite element analysis, which is how stress concentrations that cause failures get designed out before anything is cut.
Who supervises the welding?
Accredited Welding Supervisors lead a team of certified Welders and Boilermakers. Submerged arc, TIG and MIG welding are run in house alongside our patented ABClad hard surfacing process for wear reclamation.
What tickets do your site personnel hold?
The tickets ABC requires for site work are Standard 11, a Coal Board Medical, Confined Spaces, Working at Heights and a current driver licence.
Is ABC licensed for labour hire in Queensland?
Yes. ABC holds Queensland labour hire licence LHL-01983-S5B8T, and supplies supervisors, planners, relief personnel and trades to site under it.
Unblocked by: Client supplies the current safety documentation. Also obtain the current ISO 9001 certificate, edition, certification body and expiry, and the current AS1100 part reference, before publication.
